Believe me, I did in my youth try to walk away from this religion, but the awful behavior of non-JWs made me return to what I was accustomed; the "nothing is wrong as long as you're not harming anyone" attitudes and "anything goes/do not judge" way of life... I just couldn't handle it.
Ultimately, do not think I can today either. Here's is comfy and nice, so I'll stay, even with all my opposing views.

the title is a bit of click bait.
but here's the alternative title: what stupid beliefs/ideas did you have while an active jw.. i think the majority of jws that don't have obvious mental health issues are not stupid, just un/under-educated.
for example, i now accept evolution as a thing, not a controversy or conjecture.
JWs, as any other group conglomerate, contain all types. They simply have beliefs we do not agree with, or refuse to follow.
Dumb/stupid? It's open to interpretation. They sure can rationalize their beliefs in very crafty ways.

Yes to all you said BSoM, yes, but disfellowshipping is the JW way and it's horrible; it is not changing anytime soon.
Reason why is very important to create a reliable 'other' network prior to walking away from the JW network.

its funny ive read some stories on here about how they have become so infuriated by what logic dictates as being true and their own denying of it because it completely screws up their belief and shows how hypocritical it is xd some look like a nuclear reactor about to blow xd.

I've made small comments here and there in social settings, about the correlation between infant baptism and our young kids being baptized; the protection of abusers physical/sexual by not turning them to authorities or notifying the congregation of these undesirables moving among us, the 'always a deficit' at the assemblies, etc.
All I get is crickets and then a change of subject. I sense looks and comments of disapproval about the subjects and an insinuation not to talk about this anymore.
Because of the love and respect I feel for my wonderful husband, I decided as of yesterday not to bring up any contradictory subject up again. He is quite prominent/popular/loved among Spanish JWs here and very happy in his life, so I do not want to cause him any further grief.

i don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.
they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.
but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.

After watching this, led me to believe that this young man just did not want to lead a modest JW life, so he's let go by the religion.
Could not wear the earrings, the saggy pants, the trendy haircut, so go where does things are cool and alright; perhaps some unchristian behavior also accompanied the 'worldly' look.
Sorry. This is nothing new; usually, when a 'worker' cannot conform to the objective of any org/company, he/she is usually let go. JWs as an Org do the same thing.

there are threads on the content of the rc and reaction of awake jws here, but how are indoctrinated jws reacting to the convention.

Oh, yes, and pointing out/bringing out any old literature that contradicts what's being taught will certainly get one accused of apostasy.
"Move with Jehovah's chariot", a step behind or ahead is wrong. This and the Proverb text that talks about the path becoming clearer are golden commentary for JWs and what keeps so many in the fold.

ok so last night i had the scariest dream.
Indoctrination plays a big role in the subconscious mind. Our deepest fears come out in our dreams.
This is one of the ways that ex-jws may have left the Org, but the indoctrination received will never leave.
